Altered Japanese Box

This is my alter box I made for my June Altered Eclectic's anything goes challenge.  This is the box I found at the thrift store that I started from started with.

I sanded the box and then painted the sections with red and black  acrylic paint and a gold leaf pen.  I stamped the top of the box with a rubber stamp that had Japanese lettering on it. Once I was finished the colouring I sprayed the box with 5 coats of clear varnish.

Once I finished the box I added some findings to decorate the top and continue my Japanese theme.  The findings were part of some old jewellry that I had purchased at a garage sale.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.  Stop by the Altered Eclectics challenge blog to see the beautiful projects the other design team members made to inspire you.

Twelve Drummers Drumming

I love snowman and I think this drumming snowman is so cute. I made this Christmas card for a challenge this week at  Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges. The image is by The Stamping Boutique and is called  Drummers Drumming Christmas Digital Stamp.  The theme of the challenge is to use Kraft paper on your card.

I paper pieced the drummer boys clothes and drum.  I used Kraft paper on the jacket, hat, drum and one of the layering papers.  I added glitter to the snow and a sentiment to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will join us at Holly Jolly this week.

You Light Up My Life

This is my card for this week this week's challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenges. Scribbles is our sponsor this week and I have used one of their images for my card called Firefly Mason Jar.  The theme of the challenge is lots of layers or no layer cards.

Scribbles Designs

I love this digital stamp because it reminds me of the song "Fireflies" by Owl City.  I think the song is so pretty. You can hear the song on Youtube here

I printed my mason jar on Mylar, colored my  fireflies and then mounted the mylar image on some orangey brown pattern paper from my stash. Next I then made a frame using my Nestabilities dies out of copper coloured paper that I embossed with a gear embossing folder. I layered my frame out of a green text pattern paper.  To complete my card I added a hemp cord and a sentiment.

After I printed the image I glued it to the board and coloured the image with my Copics,  PanPastels and Soot Distress inks.  I added some wooden hears, that I coloured with markers and Diamond, glaze and glitter.
