About Me

Okanagan, BC, Canada
Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. My favourite quote is by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I hope you join me in my search for my creative side. Thanks for stopping by!

Altered Japanese Box

This is my alter box I made for my June Altered Eclectic's anything goes challenge.  This is the box I found at the thrift store that I started from started with.

I sanded the box and then painted the sections with red and black  acrylic paint and a gold leaf pen.  I stamped the top of the box with a rubber stamp that had Japanese lettering on it. Once I was finished the colouring I sprayed the box with 5 coats of clear varnish.

Once I finished the box I added some findings to decorate the top and continue my Japanese theme.  The findings were part of some old jewellry that I had purchased at a garage sale.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.  Stop by the Altered Eclectics challenge blog to see the beautiful projects the other design team members made to inspire you.
