Chipboard Challenge at Creative Artiste

It is a chipboard challenge this week at Creative Artiste and we have a very special sponsor this week, Scrapmatts.   Check out their online store for a great selection of chip board, stencils and other artist supplies.

I made this canvas for one of my sisters who retired in June using a picture of our mother as the focal point on my project. I hope my sister enjoys my project.  I have always loved this picture of my mother when she was young.

The background of the canvas used a combination of inks, dictionary papers, rubber stamps, stencils and acrylic paints. Once I had my background   the way I wanted it I started layering my papers, doilies, die cuts and metal frames.  I framed my picture of my mom with a pretty Scrapmatts' frame, then started to pile on my findings which included a locket hearts, my mother's name, pearls, brads and flowers.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.  Remember to stop by our challenge blog to see the inspiring projects of the design team.  They work very hard to find projects that they hope to inspire you. Hope you will join us this month.

Altered Mixed Media Board - Another Time

Time for another Anything Goes Challenge at Altered Eclectics this month.  Altered Eclectics is an altered art and mixed media challenge blog.  Hope you will join us in this challenge.

For the challenge I have created an mixed media canvas using one of the images from Tim Holtz's idea-ology collection called Found Relatives.  Found Relatives is a collection of 24 vintage portrait cards that can be used for collage or mixed media projects.

I really had a lot of fun making my collage.  I found in a garage sale a book of engineering drawing and designs that the home owner gave me for free.  It has very interesting drawing throughout the book.  I layered torn pages of the book to my canvas.  When you look closely you can see the drawing peak through.

Closer look

My next step was to add some napkin pieces that had antique clocks all over them.  I did some stenciling with a couple of Tim Holtz's stencils then added a thin layer of paint over my collage and some stamped images.  Once I was happy with the effect I layered some papers I had collected including a couple of antique doctor's prescriptions that I found on a trip to Arizona.  The prescriptions were from the New York area and  dated about 1919.  That was quite a find for me.
I also layered  ephemera papers from my staff  along with tags, sentiments, a key, a brad and clogs.

Hope you enjoyed my project.  Thank you for stopping by. Remember to stop by our challenge blog to see the beautiful work of the design team.

Life's a Beach - Near the Sea I Long to Be

Time for another challenge at Eclectic EllapuEclectic Ellapu has two challenges on the first of every month. The two themes this month are Anything Goes and Life's a Beach (holidays, beach, umbrella and sand.

I have made this card for the Life's a Beach Theme. The card was made with a digital image from Pink Gem designs from my stash, 3 beach themed rubber stamps that have been in my collections for about 10 years from a company called Lasting Impressions by Panache. I believe the company no longer exists.  It was fun layering the digital stamp and images.

I coloured the card with PanPansels, Copics and Posca Pens and added a die cut anchor and a sentiment to complete the card.

Hope you will join us in one of our challenges this  month over at Eclectic Ellapu.  Remember to pop over to our challenge board to view the projects of the talented design team, they are very inspiring.
